Box-stock build of Monogram's reissued 1/24th scale Ford Model T Pickup "Black Widow".  The chrome steering wheel was borrowed from the Monogram "Green Hornet" Model T drag car.

AMT 1963 Shelby Cobra.  Kit's Ford 289 benefited from  a  Parts by Parks pre-wired distributor and aluminum coil.  I finally found a home for the Detail Master wire wheels and tires purchased over 15 years ago.  I used the kit's axles and disc brakes.  The kit's racing muffler was carefully removed from the exhaust pipes and replaced with a spun aluminum glass pack muffler from Detail Master.  I also used Detail Master gage faces to bring a bit more life to the cockpit.  This car represents a weekend racer and therefore still has factory stock bumpers in place.  I could not resist temptation to use some racing number decals from the parts box.  If you throw away the kit's modest wire wheels and oversized tires, a very nice early Cobra can be replicated.

Revell Mickey Thompson Attempt 1 Bonneville Salt Flats racer.  The kit's engine, like the real car was half of a Pontiac 421 cubic inch motor.  The 4-cylinder engine was built straight from the box with the exception of the magneto and spark plug wires which utilize the kit magneto and some aftermarket spark plug wires.  A Detail Master turned aluminum gas tank replaced the kit's chrome plated plastic piece.  The exhaust pipes were deeply drilled out for a more realistic appearance.  The streamliner body is Tamiya Metallic Blue with Testors Super Gloss clear coat.  I used a combination of Bare Metal Foil and Testors Metalizer Aluminum Plate lacquer for the inside of the body shell.  The dragster body panels and frame rails were not clear coated to provide a noticable contrast with the outside shell.  I would like to build this kit with a full 421 cubic inch blown Pontiac to display along side the 4-cylinder original version.

AMT 1957 Chevrolet Belair 2 door hardtop.  Basically a box-stock build of a very well engineered and highly detailed model kit. Kit components included spark plug wires and bare metal foil.  Kit supplied plastic distributor was drilled out as per the instructions.  Spray can paints were selected and applied to frame, chassis, drive train, trunk, hood, etc. as per directions.  The engine block was hand painted with Testors Chevy Engine Red.  Just about everything else on the model was spray painted with aerosol cans.  The exterior color is Testors Model Masters Metalizer Aluminum Plate Lacquer applied from spray can, polished and clear coated with Testors Super Gloss spray paint.  Unfortunately this paint can chip off if not handled carefully.  I have 2 small spots 1 on the roof and 1 on the right front fender which will require some form of touch up.

1959 Cadillac El Dorado convertible by Monogram.  Duplicolor exterior paint and clear coat.  Interior is combination of Duplicolor gray sandable primer and Testors spray can 50's pink enamel.  Bare Metal foil replaces kit supplied mylar chrome foil. A variety of aftermarket parts included a Parts by Parks pre-wired distributor. Additional details were added with misc. photo-etched junk such as sun glasses and photo-reduced magazines,

Lindberg 1/25th scale 1964 Dodge 330 Super Stock drag car.  This is my version of the famous "Color Me Gone" drag race car.  Guess I could have named it "Color Me Gold" if I was skilled enough to create my own decals.  I used kit bashed chrome mag wheels to draw more attention to the rolling stock.  Mild amount of detailing under the hood with Parts by Parks pre-wired distributor, coil and aluminum radiator cap.  This model was well engineered by Lindberg and was a fun build.

I like the Satin Black Paint job, but I also really like the Wheels, and that Grill is just Great!
